Lords, NRGY 6 Among Winners in UPNEDA’s 500 MW Rooftop Solar Auction

Kosuke Service, NRGY 6, Lords Mark Industries, KLK Ventures, G P Edible Foods, HFM Solar, OMC Power were declared winners in Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency’s (UPNEDA) auction to set up 500 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar projects on government/semi-government buildings and other institutions in Uttar Pradesh under the RESCO model on a net metering basis.

The discovered tariff for projects ranging from 25 kW up to 200 kW in Category 1 is ₹4.9 (~$0.0587)/kWh, the tariff for projects from 200 kW to 2,000 kW in Category 2 is ₹4.85 (~$0.0581)/kWh.

The winners under Category 1 are Kosuke Service, NRGY 6, Lords Mark Industries, KLK Ventures, and G P Edible Foods. Category 2 winners are HFM Solar, OMC Power, Kosuke Service, NRGY 6, Lords Mark Industries, KLK Ventures, and G P Edible Foods.

UPNEDA had mandated that each project’s size must be between 25 kW and 2,000 kW. While a single project may consist of multiple rooftop units, each unit can have an independent grid connection and may have individual meters. However, only one project will be permitted per meter consumer number, with a maximum project size of 2,000 kW.

The winners and their respective awarded capacities under both the categories are as follows:

Solar modules and cells to be used in these projects must be manufactured in India and adhere to the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers of Solar Photovoltaic Modules (Compulsory Registration Requirement) Order 2019.

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy recently stated that it plans to install rooftop solar systems on all central and state government buildings by December 2025 as part of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.

In a document issuing guidelines for the comprehensive program, the ministry stated that the rooftops of all government buildings, including those of autonomous bodies and subordinate offices, will be equipped with solar panels to the maximum extent technically feasible.

Recently, UPNEDA floated three tenders to install a cumulative capacity of 7 MW on-grid rooftop solar systems with battery backup for captive use on government buildings.
