IIT Hyderabad Invites Bids for 3.5 MW Captive Solar Project

The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad has invited expressions of interest to set up a 3.5 MW in-house captive solar photovoltaic project to maximize energy savings at its campus.

The last date to submit bids is July 24, 2024. Bids will be opened the next day.

Bidders must furnish an earnest money deposit of ₹350,000 (~$4,200).

The scope of work includes planning, design, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, and five years of post-commissioning operation and maintenance.

Bidders must have completed at least one similar solar project of 2.8 MW capacity or larger in the last seven years. Alternatively, they should have completed two projects of 2.1 MW each or three projects of 1.4 MW each.

The average annual turnover of the bidders must be at least ₹48 million (~$577,000) in the last three financial years and a net worth of a minimum ₹16 million (~$192,000). Alternatively, they can furnish a banker’s certificate of ₹64 million (~$766,000) issued by any scheduled bank.

The project aims to maximize clean energy generation and energy savings for the institute. Potential locations include existing parking areas, an elevated installation along the campus cycle track, and other plazas and ground-based areas.

IIT Hyderabad currently has a 0.95 MW grid-connected solar project, which will be converted to captive use along with the tendered 3.5 MW project. The institute’s monthly energy consumption ranges from 1 to 3.5 million kWh.

In May, the Agency for New and Renewable Energy Research and Technology invited bids for a 1.5 MW ground-mounted solar power project with grid connectivity in the Central University of Kerala, Kasaragod.

Previously, Bundelkhand University in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, invited bids from solar developers to set up a 1.2 MW grid-connected rooftop solar photovoltaic project. The capacity can be extended up to 5 MW based on future requirements and system performance.
